If you run a Davis Instruments weather station, you already have the data to catch heat or frost risk, time an irrigation, or plan a spray window. It just lives in WeatherLink, separate from your irrigation dashboard.
Every one of those calls means checking two tools instead of one. On a frost night, or during a heat spike, that gap gets expensive fast.
The three things every irrigation decision needs
Ask any grower how they decide when to water. The answer comes down to three inputs:
- the forecast
- a record of what actually happened on the field, and
- the current state of the crop and soil.
With Verdi Weather, Precip already covers the forecast, and crop and soil conditions come from your Telemetry Node and soil moisture sensors.
The missing piece, for growers running their own Davis Instruments station, has been getting that station's own historical data next to everything else, in one place.
That's what changes today.
Davis WeatherLink integration now live in the Verdi Dashboard
If you run a Davis Instruments Vantage Pro2 or Vantage Vue station, connected through WeatherLink Live, Console, or an EnviroMonitor Gateway, you can now link that account straight to Verdi.
Your station's temperature, rainfall, humidity, wind, barometric pressure, and vapor pressure deficit (VPD) readings show up right next to your irrigation data.
Those readings run on the same graphs Verdi just rebuilt: faster, easier to explore, and finally built to work properly on mobile.
This time of year, that piece matters most – Verdi now sends heat and frost text alerts based on temperature and VPD from your own field's station, not a regional forecast.
Why heat and frost alerts from your field matter
A public weather station a few miles away can sit in a warmer microclimate, at a different elevation, or simply too far from your specific block to reflect what your crop is actually experiencing. A heat or frost alert calculated from your Davis station removes that gap and gives you the most accurate data possible.
You can get a text when your field's own conditions cross the risk threshold, with enough time to act, not a forecast for the nearest town. In addition, with our new SMS Alerts features, you can also have those alerts sent separately to your irrigators, or other groups who need to know.
This same connection gives you the full picture for every other irrigation call: your own field's weather history sitting beside current soil and crop conditions, instead of stitching together data from three different tools.
How to connect your Davis weather station through WeatherLink
Connect your Davis Instruments weather station now by pasting your WeatherLink API key to your Verdi Dashboards settings page. There is an onboarding cost of $250 per weather station, but that can be waived for users who connect their WeatherLink.com accounts by the end of the year.
See a guide on finding your API key here.
